Series : Technologies Argumentation - Based Negotiation 2008

چکیده
An agent aims to secure his projected needs by attempting to build a set of (business) relationships with other agents. A relationship is built by exchanging private information, and is characterised by its intimacy — degree of closeness — and balance — degree of fairness. Each argumentative interaction between two agents then has two goals: to satisfy some immediate need, and to do so in a way that develops the relationship in a desired direction. An agent’s desire to develop each relationship in a particular way then places constraints on the argumentative utterances. Relationship-based argumentation is argumentative interaction constrained by a desire to develop such relationships.

Argumentation- vs. Proposal-Based Negotiation: An Empirical Case Study on the Basis of Game-Theoretic Solution Concepts
Recently, argumentation-based negotiation has been proposed as an alternative to classical mechanism design. The main advantage of argumentationbased negotiation is that it allows agents to exchange complex justification positions rather than just simple proposals. Its proponents maintain that this property of argumentation protocols can lead to faster and beneficial agreements when used for co...
متن کاملOn the Integration of Trust with Negotiation, Argumentation and Semantics
Agreement Technologies are needed for autonomous agents to come to mutually acceptable agreements, typically on behalf of humans. These technologies include trust computing, negotiation, argumentation and semantic alignment. In this paper we identify a number of open questions regarding the integration of computational models and tools for trust computing with negotiation, argumentation and sem...

متن کاملOn the benefits of argumentation for negotiation - preliminary version
We present preliminary work on the benefits of argumentation-based negotiation, for a simple framework for one-to-one negotiation between agents in a resource reallocation setting. Agents engage in dialogues with other agents in order to obtain resources they need but do not have. Dialogues are regulated by simple communication policies that allow agents to provide reasons (arguments) for their...
متن کاملThe ArguGRID Platform: An Overview
The ArguGRID project aims at supporting service selection and composition in distributed environments, including the Grid and Service-oriented architectures, by means of argumentative agents, an agent environment, a service-composition environment, Peer-to-Peer technology and Grid middleware. Agents are argumentative in that they use argumentation-based decision-making and argumentation-support...
